General Information

Technische Universität Berlin has signed a campus license agreement with the company Swiss Academic Software GmbH for the software Citavi Team - Literature Administration and Knowledge Organisation. This campus license is financed by the university library of TU. Employees and students of of TU can now use this program for studies, research and education at work and at home. The campus license is valid until 30 November 2019. An extension is planned.

Citavi is a Windows based software for literature admnistration and knowledge organisation: precise, easy to handle, ideal for research, studies and job. Citavi makes use of 4000 databases and library catalogues, administrates and structures your literature, citations and idea collections and supports you writing documentations and publications.

Citavi Team is suitable for team and individual projects.
You can collaborate in local networks with several persons simultaneously for team projects and work with protected individual projects at the same time. Read and write permissions can be assigned individually. You can access your files via VPN from the outside.

Citavi Team 5 works on computers using Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista and Server 2008 or Windows Server 2012 requiring at least 4GB of RAM. Further information can be taken from system requirements.

The system requirements for Citavi Team are equivalent to those of Citavi Pro. Aditionally a shared storage is required which allows the team members to store the created projects. We currently offer the new Version 5.

License Terms

Within the campus license an unlimited amount of licenses of Citavi Team can be employed at TU. According to the license agreement a use on two computers (at home and at work) or on a computer and a memory stick is permitted.
This offer is valid for all students and employees of TU Berlin. It does not apply for alumni or former members of TU and guest auditors. Further information can be taken from the conditions for the surrender of Citavi.

Order And Dispatch of Software

Departments, employees and students of TU can obtain licenses and the software free of charge within the campus license. Please read the conditions for the surrender of Citavi Team first.

  1. Download:
    Download the free version Citavi Free 
  2. Installation:
    Install the free version Citavi Free.

  3. Create Citavi account:
    Register for a Citavi account at http://www.citavi.com/tu-berlin. 
    Important: Please register with your e-mail address of the TU Berlin (*@*.tu-berlin.de). An order with freemail addresses (web.de, GMX, Gmail etc.) is not possible. In your Citavi account you will find your license information and how to enter it into Citavi.
  4. You can access an existing Citavi account at https://citaviweb.citavi.com/account
  5. Activation:
    In your Citavi account you will find your license information and how to enter it into Citavi. This converts the free version into the team version for the duration of the campus lease (not limited to 100 bibliographic records). With the Citavi Account you get the right to use Citavi Team on two computers (at home and at work) or on a computer and a USB stick.

Updates/Upgrades

The provision of Citavi includes all updates and upgrades during agreement period if offered by the manufacturer.

The campus license of TU is a rental agreement. If no extension of the agreement is signed, the following options are available for further use:

  • For the current upgrade price a license for Citavi Pro can be purchased granting unlimited use rights.
  • The software can be used as free version but this will not allow the adding of new literature data. The stored data will still be available for research purposes.
